At 1537 hours, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted to assist the Hockessin Fire Company on a residential structure fire in the 200 Block of Peoples Way.

Engine 23 went responding at dispatch with a crew of 3 with Squad 23 responding minutes after. Units were alerted by New Castle Fireboard, along with other mutual aid units from New Castle County, of a fire in the kitchen that was spreading. Tanker 19 (Hockessin) was the first arriving engine and reported smoke showing from the front of the home.

Engine 23 arrived as the 4th due engine and assisted interior crews with overhaul operations while Squad 23 arrived as a supplemental engine and its crew stood by in manpower until they were released by Hockessin Command.

Crews cleared the scene at 1636 hours
