| At 0845 hours, the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the Route 1 Southbound off-ramp at Newark Road in New Garden Township for a vehicle fire.
Captain and Squad 23 made the response and were advised of a pick-up truck on fire on the off-ramp from the Route 1 Bypass. An officer from the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department arrived and confirmed an active fire in the engine compartment along with brush on the embankment spreading. Captain 23 arrived shortly after, confirmed the report and established Avondale Command.
West Grove's Engine 22-1 also responded to the incident to assist Avondale units. Squad 23's crew deployed a 250' cross lay and began extinguishment.
Engine 22-1 arrived and their crew assisted the Squads crew.
Tanker 23 stood by for additional water supply while the traffic and fire police closed Route 1 at the Newark Road ramp.
The fire was placed under control just five minutes after the units arrived. All units cleared at 0939 hours. |
