On Saturday afternoon, Avondale Fire Company was alerted to assist Hockessin with a medical assist call. Chief, Engine 2 and Ambulance 1 responded on dispatch. As Avondale units were clearing the medical call, New Castle County Fireboard directed the engine to the 100 block of Venus Drive for a reported house on fire. Engine 23-2 responded as well as Chief 23. Engine 2 arrived as the first due engine, secured a water supply in front of the structure and stretched an 1.75" handline to the door while Chief 23 investigated. The fire was contained to the oven, the electric was secured and the fire was extinguished. Hockessin Command reduced the incident to Engine 23-2.
Engine 23-1 and Tanker 23 also made the response but were canceled soon after
