Working Commercial Structure Fire, Assisting Kennett Regional Fire Department

On January 19th, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted at approximately 0814 hours to assist the Kennett Regional Fire Department for a commercial structure fire. Shortly after dispatch, Engine 23-2 with a crew of four went responding. While enroute, Engine 24 arrived to find a commercial building with fire through the roof. Engine 23-2 arrived as the third-due Engine laying a second supply line, while Tanker 23 secured their hydrant and pumped water to Engine 23-2. Engine 23-2's crew stretched a 2 1/2" handline and assisted with fire suppression.
The fire went under control at 0942 hours. Engine 23-2’s crew stayed to continue with overhaul and clean up until clearing at 1213 hours.
