At 0730 hours on Friday morning, the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank in New Garden Township for a reported vehicle fire.
Engine 23-2 went responding with a crew of 4 right after dispatch with Chief (S. Cole) and Captain 23 (B. Cole) responding along side. Chester County Fireboard advised responding units that the caller reported smoke coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. Captain 23 arrived first on scene and reported flames from the engine compartment and established command.
Engine 2 arrived and deployed a 100' bumper line to extinguish the flames. Crews from Engine 2 had the fire under control in just under three minutes of putting water on the fire. Crews opened the hood to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
Blittersdorf's towing arrived and removed the vehicle and crews washed down the parking lot.
