At 1929 hours on Thursday, January 14th, the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to assist Kennett Fire Company on an apartment fire in the 100 block of East Cedar Street in Kennett Square Borough. Fire was reported inside the apartment from an unknown source. Deputy 24 arrived with fire showing from the second floor of the structure. Engine 23-1 arrived as the third due engine (TDE), standing-by at a second hydrant in case a second supply line was needed. Engine 23-1 and the Rescue 23 crews awaited assignments in the manpower pool and were deployed to the second floor to check for extension. No extension was found. Command released the Avondale units to relocate to Kennett's station while they operated.
Avondale Fire Company's Fire Police assisted with road closures in the area of the incident.
