On Wednesday evening, members from Avondale took a trip to the Hockessin Fire Company for joint training on Electric Vehicle (EV) blankets. These EV blankets are used to assist firefighters with extinguishing EV fires. The training started off in the training room of the Hockessin Fire Company with Career Firefighter Langshaw going through a slideshow presentation on Electric Vehicle operation, battery details and concerns, safety concerns, and other high life hazards to firefighters while operating with these vehicles. Firefighter Langshaw continued to go over the proper deployment, operation, and storing of the EV blanket. After the program was complete, personnel from both stations were able to deploy the blanket over a command vehicle, set the blanket up properly, remove the blanket, and restore the blanket in its case. AFC officers and members would like to thank Career Firefighter Langshaw for offering this program, and to the Hockessin Fire Company for allowing us to attend and train with the EV blanket. |
