At 1354 hours on Saturday afternoon, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted for an Engine to relocate to the Five Points Fire Company in New Castle County while multiple New Castle companies operated on a large outdoor fire. Engine 23 arrived standing-by for the New Castle area. While crews stood by, they handled two additional calls for service. Engine 23 operated as the third-due engine assisting the Talleyville Fire Company on a reported residential structure fire. First arriving crews found a working kitchen fire. Engine 23 arrived, picking up the second-due engine's hydrant, and supplied water to the fire scene. As Engine 23 was being released, they were advised to respond to an MVC (motor vehicle collision) on Interstate 95 (I-95) near Frawley Stadium. Engine 23 arrived at the MVC, and provided a blocking position for crews and handled on-scene hazards. Once Engine 23 cleared the I-95 MVC, they retuned to Five Points and continued their stand-by. Engine 23 was released from the relocate and returned to quarters shortly after 1730 hours.

While Engine 23 was operating in New Castle County, Squad 23 remained staffed in quarters.
