On Tuesday, December 10th, members of Avondale Fire Company met for their monthly meeting. During the meeting, Avondale along with automatic aid, was alerted to the 1700 block of Baltimore Pike for a first due house reported on fire. The caller stated "house is on fire." Engine, Squad, Tanker, Utility, Traffic, Chief, Deputy, Captain, and Ambulance 23 all made the response on dispatch. Captain 23 arrived to find a two-story single family structure converted into an office area with fire showing from the second floor. Engine 23 arrived as the first due engine securing the water supply and stretching the 300’ handline to the front side. Engine 23's crew found a fire on the second floor and attic area. Squad 23 arrived as the second due engine deploying an additional supply line to the Charlie side. Crews stretched an additional 200’ line. Engine 23 and Squad 23 made quick work of the fire on the second floor and attic/roof area. Tower 24 arrived as the first due special, with Ladder 22 arriving as the second due special. Aerial crews worked on opening the fire area. Additional units arrived and handled various tasks on the fire grounds.

The fire was placed under control at 2038 hours. Final units cleared at 2208 hours.
