On Tuesday, October 29th at 1323 hours, Avondale Fire Company was alerted to the unit block of Heatherly Lane in New Garden Township for a reported brush fire. Engine 23 was staffed in quarters and responded immediately. Engine 23 received additional information from Chester County Fire Board stating a large control burn was out of control and a shed was also on fire with exposure to the house.

The incident was then upgraded to a structure fire. Engine 23 arrived as the first due engine laying a line from Heatherly Lane and New Garden Road. Engine 23 stretched a 200’ 1.75” hand line and began knocking the fire. Squad 23 arrived as the second engine and stretched a backup hand line assisting the first engine. The fire was placed under control. Multiple units assisted on the scene for about an hour before being released.

Special thanks to WGFC Engine 22-1 for standing by at Avondale while crews operated this fire.

Remember: There is a burn ban in Chester County due to the dryness!
