At 1243 hours on the 4th of July, the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 Block of Walnut Run Road in New Garden Township for a reported mushroom loader on fire.

Engine and Deputy 23 made the response right after dispatch. Crews were advised by Chester County Fire Board that workers on location had a mushroom loader that had caught fire while in use. Ambulance 23-1 arrived first on location and confirmed the report of a loader fully involved with possible exposures.

Engine 23 arrived with the Deputy and went into service with a 150' 1 3/4" bumper line. Deputy 23 assumed Avondale Command while the officer of Engine 23 held operations. The engine crew was able to knock down the fire within minutes.

Squad 23 and Tanker 23 arrived; the Squad crew assisted the Engine crew with overhaul, while Tanker 23 supplied water to the Engine.

FM60 was also on the scene and handled the investigation. The fire was put under control at 1302 hours and the scene was turned over to the property manager.
