At 0910 hours on Sunday morning, Avondale Fire Company and surrounding mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 1500 Block of Limestone Road in Upper Oxford Township for a reported residential fire.

The Chester County Radio Room received multiple calls of a possible house explosion with visible fire from a single story home with burn victims. Avondale Fire Company was originally dispatched for an engine, which made the response, with the tanker following behind. Responding units were reporting a large header of smoke from miles away and Deputy 27 of the Cochranville Fire Company requested the working fire dispatch and the first alarm tanker task force due to lack of hydrants in the area.

Deputy 27 then assumed command and confirmed the reports made by witness callers and people passing by. Arriving units were able to extinguish a large bulk of the fire utilizing a deck gun from West Grove's Engine 22-1. Command also confirmed two burn victims who had to be flown out to regional trauma/burn centers by medical helicopters. Ambulance 23-1 made the response to assist with providing additional medical care to any civilians and or fire crews on location but were returned shortly after the patients were transported.

While en route, Engine 23-2 was designated by command to help establish a fill site for the multiple tankers at the scene. Engine 23-2 diverted to Daleville Road and Columba Street to use the hydrant to help refill empty tankers returning back to the scene. Tanker 23 assisted with unloading 7,000 gallons of water to the scene before returning after the fire was placed under control.

While at the fill site, Engine 23-2 helped fill Tankers 23 (Avondale), 27 (Cochranville), 21 (Oxford), 22 (West Grove), 24 (Kennett), 36 (Po-Mar-Lin), 08 (Keystone Valley), Lancaster 51 and 52 (Bart and Christiana).

Traffic 23 also made the response to help with traffic control around the fire scene by closing Route 10 (Limestone Road) at Route 896 (Newark Road).

While crews were operating at the house fire, a second call came into the Avondale district on the Route 1 Bypass Southbound in the area of the 19 mile marker. Arriving crews found a single vehicle against a tree with no injuries. Chief 23 held command. Engine 23-1 arrived to secure the vehicle and help with traffic control along with Utility 23.
