At 15:20 hours, the Avondale Fire Company and surrounding mutual aid were dispatched to assist West Grove Fire Company on a reported shed fire in the village of Chatham in London Grove Township.

West Grove's Chief 22 (Felker) went responding after dispatch and was notified by the Chester County Fireboard that there were multiple calls received reporting a shed or garage on fire in the area of Gap Newport Pike and E. London Grove Road. Engine 23-2 responded with a crew of 4 personnel shortly after and while making their way north on Gap Newport Pike, a large header of black smoke was visible.

Assistant 24 arrived on location and confirmed a 10' x 20' shed fully involved in the 200 Block of E. London Grove Road. Engine 22-1 arrived as the first due engine and laid a supply line from E. London Grove Road/Route 41 up to the scene. Engine 23-2 arrived as the second due engine and assisted with fire suppression and overhaul on the Bravo and Charlie sides of the shed.

Due to the area not having any nearby fire hydrants, Chief 22 called for the first alarm tanker task force that brought in additional tankers to the scene to assist with water supply.

Tanker 23 was part of the tanker task force and made their way up to the scene to assist with water supply. Engine 23-1 also made their way to the scene but was redirected to cover West Grove on an accident with subjects trapped by Jennersville Hospital.

Traffic 23 also made their way to the scene to assist West Grove Fire Police with traffic control at the intersection of Route 41 and E. London Grove Road.
