The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched at 1417 hours for an unknown type of fire in the area of Landenberg and Sawmill Roads. Engine 23-1, Tanker 23, Ambulance 23-2 and Traffic 23 responded within seconds of the dispatch. The responding units were advised by CCDES that a caller could see smoke and something burning, but wasn't sure of the source. Assistant 23 (Franks) arrived in the area with a smoke condition and began searching for the source. Avondale units arrived in the area around 1423 hours searching the area with Assistant 23. The Rescue, Engine 2, and Ambulance 2 were staged in the parking lot of the Landenberg Store. Engine 23-1 found a controlled burn in the 100 block of Sawmill Road. It was decided that the single engine would extinguish the fire. Assistant 23 held the assignment to Engine 23-1 and the balance returned to the station. Final crews cleared around 1430 hours.

Shortly after returning to the station, we were alerted for a Carbon Dioxide detector activation in the 100 block of Sheehan Road. Rescue 23, Ambulance 23-2, and Tanker 23 responded at dispatch. Crews arrived to find a single story house with an active alarm sounding. Deputy 23 (Cole) established "Sheehan Command", while the Rescue went in-service with two CO meters. After checking the residence, the crew had 0 readings on their meter. Crews found a bad detector. The company cleared the incident.
